Τhe purposes of the Society are:
To promote Byzantine art in Greece and abroad. To look after the interest of iconographers, to organize events to inform about the evolution of Byzantine art today.                     

During the 27 years of existence, the Society has organized over 20 exhibitions of contemporary iconography. Some exhibitions are:
The 2nt Pan-Hellenic exhibition of iconography in the cultural center “TECHNOPOLIS” Athens, December 2007.

The 1st Pan-Hellenic exhibition of iconography in the cultural center “Melina Mercouri” of municipality of Athens in November of 1999. The opening ceremony was hosted by the Archbishop of Greece His Beatitude Mr. Christodoulos.            
Clebrating the 2000 of Christianity , with the support of the Patriarch of Jerusalem. The above exhibition was transferred in the Holy City of Jerusalem, in December 1999.              

Exhibition at “PARNASOS” gallery, in 1995, celebrating  2000 years from the writing of the Revelation of John the Evangelist            
Seven of our members  exhibited  70 icons in the national library of Santiago, Chile (Galleria Azul – Bibliotheca National) in October of 1998. The exhibition was financially supported from the Greek Ministry of Culture.           

Exhibition in Paros, in 1996, celebrating the 17 centuries of Ekaontapiliani
A great exhibition of iconography was presented to the art-loving public of Rome, in May of 1997, from the  Pan-hellenic Society of Iconographers and another artistic team. This important exhibition was held in the Greek embassy in Rome with the Greek ambassador’s initiative Mr. Frangoulis. The exhibition was financially supported from the Greek Ministry of Culture.
International Exhibition Centre of Thessalonica, in May of 1989, supported from the Ministry of Macedonia and Thraki, where the Metropolitan of Thessalonica Mr. Panteleimon honoured the Society for its activity with a golden medal.

Exhibition in Trikala, in 1990, celebrating the 600 years from the foundation  Holy Monastery of the Savoir Metamorphosis in Meteor.           
Exhibition in the auditorium of Athens municipality and the cultural centre of the Greek army academy, in 1982 and 1989.                                 

Works of our members you can find in Orthodox Churches and Monasteries all over the world.                               

In addition iconographic works (portable icons) of many of the members have been accepted in the artistic lounges  such as Grand Palais [Paris], ARTINTER [Marseilles], ΑΙΧ-ΕΝ-ΡRΟVΕΝCΕ Avinion, [Spanish] Barcelona, Cyprus, Finland, U.S.A, Serbia, Central America, Canada and other places where they were given awards and distinction.
